Tom Stevens is appointed to the board of the British American Business Council chapter for Chicago and the Midwest.

12 – 14 November: Startup Weekend

Stevens & Associates sponsored Startup Weekend Chicago, an intense 54 hour event which focuses on building a web or mobile application which could form the basis of a credible business over the course of a weekend. Tom Stevens served as an advisor and mentor to the startups.

5 – 7 November: Lean Startup Machine

Stevents & Associates sponsored the Lean Startup Machine in Chicago, a weekend event where teams of entrepreneurs learn Lean Startup principles through real-world problem solving. Tom Stevens served as an advisor to the participants.

12 – 14 May: British American Business Council Annual Transatlantic Conference in London

Tom Stevens was in London, participating in the annual BABC Transatlantic Conference, hosted at the Willis Tower in London’s financial district. Over 300 delegates from 20 BABC chapters were in attendance.

10 – 20 February:

Tom Stevens will be in India for the dual purposes of addressing logistical issues for a non-profit medical mission and a separate new for-profit, high-tech venture. As to the medical mission, he will be the guest of and at the Namgyal Monastery, the personal monastery of H.H. the Dalai Lama. The visit takes place during the Tibetan New Year, Losar.

February/March: Insight Magazine

Tom Stevens was recently featured in an article for Insight Magazine, the bi-monthly publication of the Illinois Certified Public Accountant Society. He discussed the United States’ corporate tax rate in comparison to corporate tax rates around the world. 7 January:

Lyric Hughes Hale and David Hale, both experts on China, opened their home to 12 members of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs for a dinner to discuss economic and monetary issues between China and the United States. Tom participated in a lively debate about culture clashes, imbalances in monetary policy, and the future of Asian power.
